Type: Spherical roller thrust bearings of series 523 (also designated 225147M and variants). They are pure axial bearings with two symmetrical rows of cylindrical rollers and a spherical raceway on the outer ring.
Structure: Spherical outer ring, two symmetrical inclined rows of cylindrical rollers, steel window cage. Available in single- or double-direction versions to support axial loads from one or both directions.
Self-alignment: The spherical raceway of the outer ring allows automatic compensation of small angular misalignments, reducing stress and vibration even with shaft deflection.
Load capacity: Extremely high axial load capacity, superior to thrust ball bearings. Example SKF 225147M: dynamic load 34 kN, static load 34 kN, fatigue load limit 4,25 kN.
Lubrication: Relubricable with grease. They require preload even at medium speeds to ensure constant contact between rollers and raceways, especially during changes of direction or acceleration.
Radial clearance: Available in different clearance classes according to application requirements.
Speed: Limited rotational speed compared with radial bearings. SKF 225147M operates at a maximum of 14,000 rpm reference speed, 16,000 rpm limiting speed.
Protection: Open versions or with contact protection, separable design to ease mounting, dismounting and maintenance.
Specifications: Exceptional ability to absorb multidirectional axial loads, extremely high rigidity, self-alignment, interchangeable components, very compact axially.
Applications: Rolling mills, crushers, rotary compressors, heavy industrial fans, cranes and hoists, high-load transmission systems, vibrating machines, mills, applications where initial misalignment is present and axial load is predominant.
Benefits: Extremely high axial load capacity, self-alignment of up to 2-3°, robust design for critical environments, separable and relubricable components, long life even under extremely heavy loads.
