Properties of NBR rubber: Nitrile rubber is a high-performance synthetic elastomer that offers:

Operation: Oil seals prevent the leakage of lubricating oil from the axis of rotation and protect against the ingress of external elements such as dust, water and dirt.

Size coding: Oil seal sizes are expressed in millimetres according to the standard:
- First number: Inside diameter (shaft diameter)
- Second number: Outside diameter (housing diameter)
- Third number: Thickness/height of the ring
Example: 50X70X10 = Ø inside 50mm x Ø outside 70mm x thickness 10mm

Limitations: ❌ Not resistant to ozone and prolonged exposure to weathering ❌ Not suitable for aromatic and chlorinated hydrocarbons ❌ Not recommended for polar solvents ❌ Not compatible with glycol-based brake fluids
Maintenance: Lubrication is essential for correct operation: the lip must slide on a film of lubricant (1-3 μm) and not in direct contact with the shaft.
Alternatives: For applications at higher temperatures (+150°C / +200°C) or in the presence of aggressive fluids, the use of oil seals in FKM/Viton or PTFE is recommended.
